China Coal Energy Co., the listed subsidiary of China National Coal Group, produced 8.86 million mt of coal in August, up 0.2% year on year and down 2.1% month on month, the company said Saturday.
Over January-August, the company produced 73.13 million mt of coal, up 5.5% year on year. It did not provide a breakdown for thermal and metallurgical coal produced.
The company's coal sales totaled 11.1 million mt in August, down 4.6% year on year but up 20% from July. Over January-August, it sold 92.78 million mt of coal, up 4.3% year on year.
It exported 60,000 mt of coal in August, up 20% year on year, and exported 450,000 mt over January-August, down 8.2% year on year.
The company imported 720,000 mt of coal in August, up 188% year on year, and imported 3.72 million mt over January-August, up 112.6% year on year.
China Coal Energy also produced 120,000 mt of coke in August, down 36.8% year on year and down 14.3% month on month. Over January-August, it produced 1.18 million mt of coke, down 16.9% year on year.
