NYMEX October crude settled 63 cents higher at $97.17/barrel Tuesday, with support from a firm euro and equity gains, as investors awaited Thursday's policy statement from the US Federal Open Market Committee.
ICE October Brent settled 59 cents higher at $115.40/b.
In products, NYMEX October heating oil settled 1.89 cents higher at $3.1857/gal, and October RBOB ended the session up 1.95 cents at $3.0435/gal.
Mike Guido, managing director of energy markets at Macquarie, said both Brent and NYMEX crude continued to grind higher during the session, but were still locked inside the late summer range between $94-98/b.
