Cash US natural gas liquids prices saw mixed fortunes Monday, although physical activity fizzled on volatility related to Tropical Storm Isaac, sources said.
Most market participants kept to the sidelines and very little was seen in the way of actual trades, sources said, but levels talked for propane, normal-butane, and natural gasoline followed NYMEX futures movements.
Platts assessed August-delivery US Gulf Coast natural gasoline at $2.174/gal, an increase of 3 cents/gal, while August propane and butane were assessed at 79.4 cents/gal and $1.489/gal, down 1.15 cents and 1.6 cents, respectively.
Sources said natural gasoline prices tracked NYMEX October RBOB futures Monday. Typically they take their direction from light sweet crude futures.
NYMEX RBOB futures rallied -- closing 7.68 cents higher -- on the explosion over the weekend at and subsequent shuttering of Venezuela's Amuay refinery plus Tropical Storm Isaac (See story, 2046 GMT).
