Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical's 13.5 million mt/year (271,110 b/d) refinery based in eastern China Jiangsu province received its first 30,000 mt cargo of South Pars condensate last week, its parent company the China Petrochemical Group said in a newsletter.
"As the hydrogen sulfide content of the oil is as high as 200 ppm, various departments had earlier convened to discuss and ensure a safe discharge of the cargo," Sinopec Group said in a report in China Petroleum Daily published Friday.
Unipec, the trading arm of Sinopec, earlier signed a contract with National Iranian Oil Co. for the supply of 24 million barrels of South Pars condensate for 2011.
The term contract was the first by Sinopec and makes it the single biggest lifter of the Iranian condensate.
The Jinling refinery is one of Sinopec's refineries capable of processing high sulfur and high acidity crudes oils, according to information published on Sinopec's website.
Sinopec Group, which is the state-owned parent of Hong Kong-listed Sinopec Corp., has a combined refining capacity of 208 million mt/year (4.18 million b/d) making it the largest refiner in the country and world's second largest refinery after ExxonMobil.
