A new crude oil unloading terminal in Florida will likely be receiving Bakken Blend crudes, market sources said Tuesday.
Representatives with the terminal's owner Genesis Energy did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday. Genesis is a midstream operator based in Houston.
The 100-car unit train crude terminal in Walnut Hill, Florida, began service August 13, according to a statement released by Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway on August 16. Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway is a subsidiary of Rail America, which owns and operates short-line and regional freight railroads.
Once crude is unloaded at the Florida terminal, the crude will be shipped to a refinery via an existing Genesis pipeline, as well as indirect delivery to multiple potential markets in the Southeast via third-party carriers, Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway said.
According to Genesis' website, its Jay crude pipeline system serves Florida and Alabama, delivering crude into Shell's 85,000 b/d refinery near Mobile, Alabama.
