India's natural rubber production in July stood at 66,000 mt, up 6% from 62,000 mt in June, according to provisional data released late Tuesday by the state-run Rubber Board.
Year on year, July's production was up 2% from 64,300 mt.
For the first four months of its fiscal year (April 2012-March 2013), production totaled 238,700 mt, slightly lower from 240,000 mt in the same period of 2011.
Natural rubber imports stood at 17,084 mt in July, down 19% from 21,189 mt in June and 14% lower from 19,928 mt on year.
The country imports natural rubber from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, India imported 205,433 mt of natural rubber, up 9% from 188,337 mt the year before.
India is expected to make 942,000 mt of natural rubber this fiscal year, up from 899,400 mt the year before, as projects planned years ago come onstream in non-traditional areas such as the northeastern states, the board had forecasted.
