Brazil exported 410.7 million liters of ethanol in July, nearly triple the amount shipped in June as a spike in US ethanol prices opened up an attractive export window to that country, official data showed Friday.
In addition, ethanol exporters cashed in a total of $304.8 million in July on FOB sales, Brazil's ministry of foreign trade said.
Detailed data on specific export destinations should be released Monday, a spokesman at the ministry said.
From January through July, Brazil exported 1.95 billion liters of ethanol, up 143% from 792 million liters registered in the same period of 2011.
Spot ethanol sold in the US main Chicago market rose over 30% since the start of June to close at $2.56/gal Thursday, according to Platts' assessment.
