China's Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday that it would continue to impose anti-dumping duties on epichlorohydrin imports from the US, South Korea, Japan and Russia for another five years.
The anti-dumping duties, which range from 3.8% to 71.5% and are effective immediately, will be applied to the duty-paid prices of the imports.
The Chinese government had on June 28, 2006, imposed anti-dumping duties on epichlorohydrin imports from the four countries for five years. After conducting an investigation on June 27, 2011, the ministry determined that the termination of the duties would likely cause damage to the domestic industry.
Epichlorohydrin is made from from propylene, chlorine and caustic soda. It is used as feedstock for epoxy resins in applications such as corrosion protection coatings in the electronics, automotive and aerospace industries.
