Indelpro's polypropylene offers to the Mexican domestic market went down 9 cents/lb this week for spot sales, a company said Friday.
"Demand was slow in May, and the raw material prices in Mexico are going to fall for June," said the source.
The June propylene CP for the Mexican domestic market could go down 10 cents/lb ($220/mt) following the May contract price movement in the US, a source at state Pemex said.
Mexico has a propylene formula closely linked to the US contract price movements with a month lag.
The propylene CP for the domestic Mexican market in May was stable compared to April at $1,558/mt FOB for chemical-grade propylene.
After the drop of 9 cents/lb ($198/mt), Indelpro offered to the Mexican domestic market at 82 cents/lb CIF for homo raffia and injection, 83 cents/lb CIF for homo film and at 87 cents/lb CIF for co-polymer.
For the export side from Mexico to the Andean countries and Central America, Indelpro's polypropylene offers slipped $100/mt over May and were heard at $1,650/mt CFR for homo polymer and at $1,750/mt CFR for co-polymer.
