Prompt prices on Continental European gas markets were little changed on Thursday with most of the contracts hovering near previous day's levels as warm temperatures in Europe capped gains.
Day-ahead gas on Germany's NetConnect trading hub was unchanged on the day, trading at Eur23.30/MWh by midday Thursday, while gas for next day delivery on the Dutch TTF added 5 euro cent on the day to reach Eur23.10/MWh.
The German GASPOOL day-ahead gas also rose to Eur23.35/MWh, up 10 euro cent from the previous day.
Forecaster CustomWeather said the temperature in Amsterdam is likely to be 2 degrees Celsius above the seasonal normal for the next four days, while in the UK, Birmingham could see temperatures rise 3 C above the high/low of 17/8 C by the weekend.
In contrast, the French PEG Nord prompt gas contract was valued 5 euro cent lower from the previous close at Eur23.45/MWh, while the Austrian Baumgarten day-ahead gas recorded more severe losses compared with the other prompt contracts, losing 35 euro cents on the day to change hands at Eur26.00/MWh.
Later dated contracts on the TTF halted their previous day's drop and stabilized around Wednesday's closing levels after oil prices moved up on Thursday's morning session.
July ICE Brent crude traded up 35 cents at $105.91/barrel at 1000 GMT.
The TTF June gas remained unchanged on the day at Eur23.30/MWh, while the Cal 13 on the TTF rose slightly to Eur25.75/MWh, up 5 euro cent on the day.
