Polyethylene offers from Asia to Peru fell $50-70/mt this week from last, a market source said Thursday.
LDPE film offers from Korea to Peru dropped $50 to $1,580/mt CFR, while HDPE film and injection offers fell $70 to $1,500/mt CFR, the source said.
LLDPE butene offers from Qatar were unchanged this week at $1,530/mt CFR, but the lowest in the Peruvian market at the moment was from Europe at $1,470/mt CFR.
"We are going to close a small deal with Europe this week for LLDPE butene because the price is very good and we can wait for the delivery time due to the fact that we have inventories," a Peruvian buyer said.
Bids for LLDPE in Peru were heard around $1,440/mt CFR.
"In the case of HDPE and LDPE, we are going to wait until June to buy," the buyer added..
May US polyethylene offers to Peru were still higher than those from Asia at $1,550/mt CFR for HDPE for film and injection and at $1,610/mt CFR for LDPE film.
A second Peruvian resin buyer said they were trying to buy PP from Colombia. "Colombia has good offers now and delivery is shorter than the others countries. However, we are buying small volumes just to balance inventories."
Colombian polypropylene offers to Peru were heard at $1,650/mt CFR for homo raffia, $1,660/mt CFR for homo injection, $1,670/mt CFR for homo film and at $1,700/mt CFR for c-polymer impact.
Bids for PP in Peru were at $1,610/mt CFR for homo raffia and at $1,660/mt CFR for co-polymer.
Delivery time from Colombia to Peru is about one week, while from Asia it is 40 days.
While Resin buyers in Peru have high inventories and have been buying the minimum necessary since January, some sources believe in June the inventories could fall, sending buyers back to the import market.
