Luxus unveils sustainable lightweight polymer at PDM
The automotive sector in particular will benefit from the new polymer as it enables manufacturers to reduce vehicle weight and meet tough CO2 targets. The lightweight polymer has been developed to replace standard talc filled grades for car interior components. It offers a weight reduction of 10-15% compared to a typical 25% talc filled material.

“Developing innovative polymers for new markets is essential to our future,” said Peter Atterby, managing director of Luxus. “Working closely with designers at the beginning of the process ensures that the right materials are specified to create high performance components that are reliable, sustainable and cost effective.”

Luxus will also be featuring new partner, The Green Tile Company, with both its modular tile solar panel and award winning Envirotile – an innovative roof tile made from recycled polymers. Envirotile can be seen at the Luxus Pod P40.

Also showcased will be Luxus’ closed-loop recycling service, which takes old plastic products such as end of life transit packaging or wheel bins and washes, shreds and melts them. The resulting polymer is then re-engineered via a compounding process so it can be remade into the same product.
