Styron Europe has increased the prices of its polystyrene, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene and copolymer grade products for the month of May with immediate effect, the company announced on Monday.
An increase of Eur50/mt ($65/mt) has been applied to Styron's general purpose and high impact polystyrene grades, while an increase of Eur35/mt ($45.50/mt) has been applied to its ABS resin and styrene-acrylonitrile grades.
Styron did not comment on the fixed prices of the contracts but said that the price increase was a response to rising costs associated with the manufacturing of polystyrene and copolymers grades in Europe.
GPPS gross prices were assessed at Eur1,680/mt FD NWE, GPPS net prices at Eur1,425/mt FD NWE while HIPS gross prices were assessed at Eur1,820/mt FD NWE and HIPS net prices at Eur1,565/mt FD NWE, according to Platts weekly assessment on May 2.
The Northwest European styrene monomer CP for May was fully settled on Friday at Eur1,347/mt ($1,769/mt) FD NWE, an increase of Eur47/mt over the April styrene CP of Eur1,300/mt.
Styrolution, a separate major PS producer, had announced an increase of Eur60/mt on its GPPS prices last Friday.
