Styrolution has announced a Eur60/mt increase in its general purpose grade polystyrene prices for May, the company said Friday.
Styrolution did not comment on the fixed price of the contract, but said the premium of its high impact polystyrene prices over general purpose PS prices remains unchanged at Eur140/mt.
GPPS gross prices were assessed at Eur1,680/mt FD NWE, GPPS net prices at Eur1,425/mt FD NWE while HIPS gross prices were assessed at Eur1,820/mt FD NWE and HIPS net prices at Eur1,565/mt FD NWE, according to Platts weekly assessment Wednesday.
The increase in the May PS CP exceeded the cost increase for feedstock styrene monomer for May.
The Northwest European styrene monomer CP for May was fully settled on Friday at Eur1,347/mt ($1,769/mt) FD NWE, an increase of Eur47/mt over the April styrene CP of Eur1,300/mt.
"Demand is slow but margins are also very low," a company source at Styrolution said. "We are always pursuing a margin-over-volume approach."
