Prices for ethane/propane mix in the Midwest hub of Conway, Kansas, recovered Friday to be assessed at 10.5 cents/gal, after hitting an all-time low of 8.5 cents/gal on Thursday.
The gains came in a move contrary to other natural gas liquids products, which plunged along with a correction in NYMEX light sweet crude futures.
NYMEX crude settled down $4.05/b on Friday, pushed lower by bearish economic data.
Even with the apparent rise in EP mix, recent prices remain at historic lows due a supply glut in the Midwest and a limited number of outlets for the fuel.
Platts began assessing EP mix in Conway on July 1, 1983, and assessed it at just over 10 cents/gal on that day, data showed.
Another reason sources cited for the depressed prices was that it has to compete with increasing supplies of light-end liquids coming out of regional shale plays such as the Bakken Shale.
