MEGlobal reduced its North American monoethylene glycol benchmark for May 3 cents/lb ($66/mt) to 54 cents/lb ($1,190/mt), a company source said Thursday.
A decrease in the benchmark was expected by participants, with the only question how much it would drop.
The US price decrease was slightly less than the $80/mt drop in the company's Asia Contract Price for May, which was announced April 13 at $1,120/mt.
