Linear low density polyethylene supply in Southeast Asia has been tight due to various producers reducing operating rates in the past month, market sources said Wednesday.
Titan Chemical's 200,000 mt/year LLDPE plant at Merak, Indonesia is running at 70% operating capacity due to a problem at one of its extruders, a company source said.
Chandra Asri Petrochemical is also running its 320,000 mt/year linear low density/high density polyethylene swing plant at 85% of its nameplate capacity due to technical issues, a company source said.
Various market sources also said the operating rate at Malaysia's Petronas cracker and 300,000 mt/year PE plant is also running at lower rates.
However, a company source declined to comment, citing company policy on speaking about operational issues.
None of the sources provided details of when the cuts started or when their respective companies will resume 100% run rates.
