Price trend
According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the methane chloride market in Shandong region fell this week (3.15-3.21). As of March 21, the average price of dichloromethane in Shandong was around 3,800 RMB/ton, down 2.65% from 3,903 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week; the average price of chloroform was around 4,083 RMB/ton, down 4.52% from 4,276 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week.
Analysis review
This week, there was not much pressure on the spot inventory of methane chloride in Shandong, some companies were parking, and Dongyue Chemical's construction load was not high and Luxi Chemical started around 90%, the overall market supply is still moderately tight. However, on the one hand, the price of liquid chlorine fell sharply, and the cost side was bearish. This week, the mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine for tank trucks in Shandong dropped from around 1,900 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to around 1,500 RMB/ton on the weekend. On the other hand, the high prices in the early stage caused conflicts in downstream purchases, and the high-priced shipments were not smooth, and enterprises adjusted their quotations appropriately.
This week, international crude oil fell for several consecutive days, and there was a sharp drop on the 18th. The WTI April contract fell below 59 US dollars/barrel at one point, and the cost side was negative for commodities. Methanol market quotations also fell sharply. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the methanol price was at 2,427 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and at 2,327 RMB/ton on the weekend, which was a 4.12% drop throughout the week.
Market outlook
Methane chloride data analysts believe that the current inventory pressure of methane chloride producers in Shandong is not great, but the recent cost side is bearish, and the price of methane chloride is expected to fall slightly in a short period of time.
