The final week of August saw jet fuel production fall in all regions of the US, dragging total output to a seven-week low, Energy Information Administration data showed Sept. 2.

Output fell for the second consecutive reporting period to total just 850,000 b/d in the week ended Aug. 28, marking the weakest level seen since mid-July. In the week ended July 10, output fell to 841,000 b/d.
Production on the Gulf and West Coasts simultaneously hit four-week lows, with output in the two regions falling to 428,000 b/d and 219,000 b/d, respectively. Production on the East Coast remained negligible for the week, falling to 12,000 b/d – the same figure seen just two weeks before.

Jet fuel stocks hit a four-week low for the week, totaling 39.609 million barrels. Gulf Coast stocks established a 14-week low of 14.274 million barrels as Hurricane Laura made landfall in Louisiana on the evening of Aug. 26. Regional stocks were last lower in the week ended May 22 at 13.685 million barrels. Multiweek highs were seen on the remaining two coasts for the week, with stocks on the Atlantic and West Coast hitting four- and 15-week highs. Atlantic Coast stocks amounted to 8.611 million barrels, while West Coast stocks inched up to 9.458 million barrels.

Imports did little to support stock levels for the week, with only the East and West Coasts taking in product from abroad. Both regions saw a two-week low for imports, with the East Coast at 9,000 b/d while the West Coast at 68,000 b/d.

Product supplied, or implied demand, slipped to hit a two-month low in the most recent reporting period, with volumes for the week amounting to just 940,000 b/d. Implied demand was last lower in the week ended July 3 at 924,000 b/d.

Foreign demand also fell over the course of the week, with exports more than halved to 32,000 b/d – a three-week low.
