Natural gas output in the US lower 48 states rose by 1.4%, or 0.96 Bcf/d, in October compared with September, the US Energy Information Administration said Thursday in its monthly natural gas production report.
Total US Lower-48 gas production in October was 71.28 Bcf/d, up from a revised 70.32 Bcf/d in September.
The federal offshore Gulf of Mexico and other states exhibited the largest gains of 9%, or 0.37 Bcf/d, and 1.9%, or 0.37 Bcf/d, respectively.
"These increases are partially explained by wells coming back online that were previously shut-in due to Tropical Storm Lee and drilling activity in the Marcellus Shale play," the EIA stated.
Total US production in October was up 1.05 Bcf/d, or 1.3%, from a revised 79.05 Bcf/d in September.
