OQ Chemicals, formerly Oxea, will increase 2-ethylhexanol prices by 5 cents/lb effective August 1, the company said in a letter to customers obtained by S&P Global Platts July 17.
The company did not specify a reason for the increase in prices.
The 2-EH weekly assessment for July 16 held steady at 44.5 cents/lb delivered, after sources said the market was stable.
The price increases for 2-EH were expected amid an increase in the upstream June contracts for polymer-grade propylene and chemical-grade propylene, settled up 0.5 cent at 26.5 cents/lb for PGP and 25 cents/lb for CGP, sources said.
The increases were in line with market sentiment of a hike amid firm spot pricing.
