Swiss specialty chemicals company Clariant will expand the production capacity of the isethionate derivative Hostapon SCI mild surfactant in the United States and Europe to support personal care formulators and brands to build with mild surfactants Continuous transformation of outstanding products. Clariant will invest in plants in Mount Holly, North Carolina, USA, and Tarragona, Spain, to expand the production of these mild surfactants. It is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2021. In recent years, driven by consumers' search for new mild (efficacy) claims, mild surfactants have continued to grow. They can effectively help formulators meet consumer demand for gentle cleansing products, sensitive skin solutions, solid product forms and more natural ingredients.
Clariant stated that its Hostapon SCI is a natural anionic mild surfactant. Plant-based, they are not allergenic, super gentle, and meet a series of industry-recognized eco-labels, which can create a formula containing stable milky foam.
The investment is part of Clariant ’s global expansion. In addition to expanding its production capacity, it also includes the comprehensive modernization of the manufacturing bases of the above two facilities.
