Indonesia's Pertamina plans to cut runs at its aromatics plant in Cilacap to about 80% of capacity in the second half of December, from about 100% currently, a source close to the company said Thursday.
The state-owned oil and gas company plans to divert more of the output from its continuous catalytic reforming platformer to gasoline production.
Typically, Pertamina obtains its feedstock from two crude distillation units at its Cilacap complex, which have a total capacity of 230,000 b/d. Heavy naphtha is processed at the platformer in the Cilacap complex, then sent to the aromatics plant where it is separated into paraxylene and benzene.

The aromatics plant has a design capacity of 270,000 mt/year of paraxylene and 110,000 mt/year of benzene.
Meanwhile, the company has planned a turnaround in February next year for the aromatics plant, which will last about a month.
