Australian engineering and services company WorleyParsons has been awarded a $200 million contract for project management consultancy at the $12 billion Refineria del Pacifico refinery and petrochemicals project in Ecuador.
The 300,000 b/d refinery project, in the province of Manabi, is a joint venture between PetroEcuador and PDVSA Ecuador.
Initially, WorleyParsons will provide an integrated project management team, located in Houston, to oversee the front-end engineering and design of the project, and assist with the selection of engineering, procurement and construction contractors, the company said in a statement Thursday.
In the second phase of the project, WorleyParsons will oversee the EPC contractors and be responsible for construction management of early activities at the Manabi site.
The refinery project is currently scheduled for completion by December 2015.
