US wheat inspected for exports for the week ended Thursday climbed 24.3% week on week to 433,117 mt, US Department of Agriculture data showed Monday.
The volume of US wheat inspected for the reporting week was marginally above the 429,297 mt inspected in the same period a year ago.
US wheat inspected for exports is wheat that has been sold and inspected during loading at export locations for shipment overseas.
The total volume of US wheat inspected for exports so far in the 2019-20 market year jumped 27.5% year on year to 3.39 million mt.
The wheat market year in the US begins June 1.
The volume of US wheat inspected for departure from the US Pacific Coast was 154,015 mt, comprising 43,132 mt of Hard Red Spring, 45,164 mt of Hard Red Winter, and 65,719 mt of Soft White.
The top destinations for departure of inspected wheat from the US Pacific Coast were Malaysia, with 59,413 mt; Guatemala, with 48,305 mt; and the Philippines, with 46,199 mt.
For departure from the US Gulf Coast, wheat inspected volume was 232,791 mt, comprising 14,932 mt of Hard Red Spring; 183,054 mt of Hard Red Winter; 14,805 mt of Soft Red Winter; and 20,000 mt of Durum.
The top destinations for US Gulf Coast wheat inspected were Algeria, with 90,660 mt; Nigeria, with 39,430 mt; and Chile, with 37,400 mt.
In its latest report, the USDA projected US wheat exports at 25.86 million mt for 2019-20.
