China's crude steel production is tipped to retreat in July, as Tangshan and Handan city, two major steel making hubs in Hebei province, increased steel output cuts in July in a bid to improve local air quality.
Some steel market participants said the market would remain under pressure as downstream demand, especially from construction sites, would be subdued during the low season in July.
Meanwhile, China's pig iron output reached 70.14 million mt in July, up 5.8% year on year. In the first half of 2019, pig iron output increased 7.9% year on year to 404.21 million mt.
