Methanex will keep its North American methanol contract price unchanged in April from March at 130 cents/gal ($432/mt) FOB USG, the company said.
Spot methanol pricing has firmed slightly over the past few weeks, with March pricing having surpassed the 110 cents/gal marker amid logistical challenges caused by fog in the Houston Ship Channel.
Trading activity paused near the end of the month as market participants assessed the impact of a fire at a petrochemical tank farm in Deer Park, Texas. While sources said methanol storage tanks were undamaged in the fire, a representative from Intercontinental Terminals Co. did not respond to a request for comment.
Southern Chemical Corp. has yet to post its April North American methanol contract price.
S&P Global Platts assessed US spot methanol Friday at 110.25 cents/gal FOB USG for March and 107 cents/gal FOB USG for April.
