Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. reached a production capacity of 1.01 million mt per annum in 2018 compared to 981,016 mt per annum in 2017, exceeding its annual production target of one million mt, the company said Sunday.
"We also look forward to successfully complete the commissioning of Line 6 in 2019, which will take our production capacity to 1.5 million mt [per annum] and make Alba the largest smelter in the world," CEO Tim Murray said in a statement.
Alba commissioned its potline 6 on December 13, 2018, and launched its casthouse 4 on December 30. Casthouse 4 has a total design value-added capacity of 530,000 mt per annum, the company had reported.
