Imports of polypropylene into Turkey increased by 7% year on year in November to 129,913 mt, according to the latest data from Turkstat.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest supplier of polypropylene to Turkey with imports at 48,185 mt, up from 43,725 mt in November 2017.
Imports from Egypt, the second largest supplier, also increased to 17,050 mt in November, up from 11,658 mt a year earlier.
PP raffia spot prices fell to $1,210/mt CFR Turkey at the end of November, down $40 from the beginning of the month, according to S&P Global Platts data.
Polypropylene spot prices in the Turkish market were under downwards pressure in November, with demand remaining limited despite some improvement in the value of the Turkish lira against the US dollar during the month.
According to S&P Global Platts data, PP raffia spot prices dropped from $1,250/mt at the beginning of November to $1,210/mt CFR Turkey at the end of the month.
