China's National Standardization Administration has issued a new national standard for monoethylene glycol GB/T 4649-2018 for industrial use on May 14, with an implementation date of December 1, sources said Thursday.
The revised quality specifications will see purity of content increasing from the existing 99.8% to 99.9% and water content will be lowered to 0.08% from 0.1%.
"Currently, I don't see any impact to imported CFR China cargoes as all the cargoes are able to meet the quality specifications and around two coal-based MEG producers are able to meet the new quality specifications," a Chinese source added.
