Producer Ineos has declared a force majeure on polypropylene supplies out of its plant in Grangemouth, Scotland, several market sources said Wednesday.
The unit has been in shutdown for planned maintenance since late August but the start-up was delayed due to unknown reasons, sources said.
Ineos declined to comment officially on the situation when contacted.
The unit has a total capacity of around 230,000 mt/year of polypropylene, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics data.
Platts last assessed the spot price of PP homo at Eur1,240/mt (about $1,400/mt) FD NWE.
