Thailand imported 868,505 b/d of crude and condensate in October, 26.4% lower year on year, according to data released Thursday by the Customs Department.
The country's crude imports in the month fell 27.6% year on year to 822,454 b/d, from 1.136 million b/d in the same month in 2017.
Major suppliers of crude oil to Thailand in October comprised UAE, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
Thailand imported 46,051 b/d of condensate in the month, up 3.9% year on year, mostly from Nigeria.
In the first 10 months, the kingdom imported 954,597 b/d of crude and condensate, up 5.1% year on year. Of the total, the country imported 916,897 b/d of crude oil, up 4.5% year on year and 37,699 b/d of condensate, 24% higher year on year.
Thailand produced 128,985 b/d of crude oil in the first nine months, down 9.6% year on year, with sharp decline seen from three oilfields in the Gulf of Thailand--the Tantawan (17,140 b/d, down 34.2% year on year), Songkhla (7,028 b/d, down 25% year on year) and Manora (6,654 b/d, 5.6% lower year on year).
Its condensate output during January-September of this year, however, edged up 0.4% year on year to 97,393 b/d, with the major increase coming from two gas fields in the Gulf of Thailand--Erawan (44,470 b/d, down 3.3% year on year) and Pailin (17,279 b/d, up nearly 13% from a year earlier), according to data released November 12 from the Energy Policy and Planning Office. Output data for October and the first 10 months is scheduled to be released next month.
Thailand currently had total refinery capacity of 1.234 million b/d, unchanged from 2017, the data showed.
