Polimeri's ethylene and propylene supply from Dunkirk, France, was under force majeure after a recent explosion at the site shut cracker operations there, a company source told Platts on Thursday.
The cause of the incident, which occurred last week, remains under investigation, the source said, adding repairs could take two to three weeks.
"One part of the plant was affected (by the explosion)... The cracker may restart by middle of November," the source said.
The 380,000 mt/year-capacity cracker also produces C4, but a force majeure has yet to be declared on this product, the source said.
The two polyethylene plants at the site were also shut, the source said.
It was uncertain whether force majeure was declared for PE.
No one was hurt during the incident.
French newspaper LaPhare reported Wednesday that an explosion occurred at Polimeri's Dunkirk site Oct. 21.
The blast led to flaring at the steam cracker, and a shutdown of the polyethylene plants, it said.
