Houston — Nova Scotia Power on Friday requested proposals for three different supply contracts for mid sulfur coal deliveries starting in the second half of 2018, for 2019 and 2020.

Sign Up The Halifax, Nova Scotia-based utility is seeking up to a total of 280,000 mt of coal with a minimum heat content of 12,800 Btu/lb on a gross-as-received basis.
For the second half of this year, the utility is seeking a minimum of 50,000 mt of coal and a maximum of 120,000 mt, while deliveries for 2019 could be up to 240,000 mt and up to 120,000 mt for 2020, it said.
Nova Scotia is looking for coal with a maximum sulfur content level of 3%, maximum moisture of 12%, maximum ash of 12% and minimum volatile matter of 30%.
The utility said it will evaluate both FOB loading port and CIF pricing for delivery to the International Pier (INP) in Sydney, Nova Scotia and to the Point Tupper Marine Terminal (PTMT) in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia.
