Mexico produced 1,483 mt of sugar in the week that ended June 23, down 89.7% from the 14,523 mt produced the previous week and down 79.4% from the 7,199 mt produced in the same week in the 2016-17 season, data from Mexico's Secretariat of Agriculture (SAGARPA) showed.
The amount of cane crushed also fell significantly, with 34,066 mt of cane crushed during the week ended June 22, down 71.7% from 120,561 mt crushed in the previous week and down 45.7% from 63,397 mt during the 2016-17 season, the data showed.
The amount of cane crushed has reached 99.51% of the total 2017-18 season forecast, and sugar production is up to 100.56% of expectations.
