Operations of refineries processing Russia crude were not impacted by the suspension of feedstock supply caused by an earthquake in Russia's Far East, according to a PetroChina source.
The source with one operator said its refinery is now running normally, and the existing feedstock inventory can support 10-15 days of production.
A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Russia's Amur region in the afternoon of Oct 14, leading to a halt of crude supply via the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline, according to the Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneft. The pipeline itself had not been damaged, and technicians will carry out further investigations, Transneft said.
The 15-mil-mt/yr ESPO oil pipeline has been running at full blast after it started trial run on Jan 1, 2011, C1 reported earlier. It transmitted 11.0-12.5-mil mt of crude in total in the first nine months of this year.
Refineries refining Russia crude are mostly located in Northeast China, including PetroChina Liaoyang Petrochemical, PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical and PetroChina Harbin Petrochemical.
