Mitsui Phenols Singapore restarted its phenol/acetone plant in Pulau Sakra this week after scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said late Tuesday.
The plant has a nameplate capacity of 310,000 mt/year of phenol and 180,000 mt/year of acetone.
Mitsui Phenols is one of two producers of phenol/acetone in Southeast Asia, and the turnaround left the region with few SEA-origin cargoes, resulting in an uptrend in prices in April. The other producer is PTT Global Chemical.
With supply gradually returning to the market, tightness was expected to ease for June-delivery cargoes.
