Ineos Styrolution has raised its February general purpose polystyrene prices in Europe by Eur140/mt ($174.50/mt), according to its website.
The announcement follows the contract settlement of feedstock styrene. The February contract was fully settled at Eur1,395/mt, up Eur130/mt.
The premium over GPPS for high impact polystyrene (HIPS) was announced as Eur100/mt.
No outright price levels were published.
The GPPS January net contract price was last assessed at Eur1,450/mt FD NWE Wednesday. The GPPS industry was expecting a sharp increase in February GPPS prices as they anticipated a three-digit price rise for styrene.
Spot activity for GPPS was heard limited this week as the industry awaited the styrene settlement. The GPPS spot price was assessed at Eur1,365/mt FD NWE Wednesday.
