Activity in Chile's metal-mechanical industries increased 7.3% year on year in November and 6.9% month on month, the country's Association of Metal and Metal-Mechanical Industries (Asimet) said Wednesday.
In January-November, activity decreased 0.3% year on year, it said.
Activity in the iron and steel sector decreased 4.5% year on year and fell 2.3% month on month in November. January-November activity was down 1.2%.
Activity in the entire metals sector -- including steel and aluminum -- decreased 3.1% year on year and 3% month on month in November, and fell 1.5% for January-November.
Machinery output rose 8.5% year on year and 3% month on month in November. For January-November it was up 1.8%.
Other products made of metals -- except for machinery -- rose 6.7% year on year and 2.7% month on month in November. In January-November, activity rose 7.7%.
Automotive parts activity in November rose 12.1% from a year earlier and 0.6% month on month, but over January-November it dropped 23.4%, the largest fall in all metal-mechanical industries, Asimet said.
