China's crude steel output was 66.15 million mt in November, down 8.6% month on month but up 2.2% on year, National Bureau of Statistics data released Thursday showed.

It was the second lowest monthly output for this year after February's 61.11 million mt.

The daily crude output for November averaged at 2.205 million mt, down 5.5% from that in October. This was the third month in a row that the daily output figure declined on a monthly basis.

Market participants expect China's crude steel output to continue falling in December, as the winter steel output cuts in northern and eastern China ramp up from mid-November into December.

Over January-November, China's crude steel output totaled 764.80 million mt, up 5.7% on the year.

China produced 54.88 million mt of pig iron in November, down 8.6% on the month and down 3.5% on the year. China's pig iron output in the first 11 months of this year increased 2.3% year on year to 656.14 million mt.
