Platts TSI assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap I/II (80:20) at $314/mt CFR Friday, flat from Thursday.
Three North American cargoes were reported sold into Turkey for December shipment. The deals were all in the price range of $313-$314.50/mt for 80:20 equivalent.
It caps a week in which over 10 trades were reported into Turkey and ferrous scrap prices rose $13/mt.
A trader said that it "looks like there is big resistance to go beyond this threshold."
Containerized shredded prices into India increased $5 last week to $335/mt CFR.
Following limited trading the past few months, there is talk in the market hat sentiment in India is turning bullish and that buyers are expected to return to the market due to low stocks.
In the UK, prices for shredded scrap remained flat at GBP220/mt ($290/mt) despite the rise in Turkish scrap prices last week.
A trader said he expects prices to rise after they clear some material, adding that a European scrap merchant wouls soon be loading two cargoes.
