North American shipments of replacement automotive lead batteries jumped 10% year on year in September, but dipped slightly from volumes shipped in August, Battery Council International said Wednesday.
According to the latest BCI data, about 10.531 million batteries were shipped in North America in September, compared with about 9.553 million units shipped in the year-ago month. But September's volume represented just a 0.78% decline from the 10.614 million units shipped in August.
Comparing seven-month cumulative totals between this year and last, shipments showed a 7.2% rise, with about 84.527 million replacement batteries shipped from January through September of this year, versus about 78.835 million units shipped between January and September of 2016.
Shipment volumes increased 6.3% on a rolling 12-month basis, with about 113.33 million replacement batteries shipped between October 2016 and September of this year, versus roughly 106.65 million batteries shipped from October 2015 through September 2016.
