LyondellBasell's CEO Bob Patel said Friday that its steam cracker in La Porte, Texas, has resumed operations and is expected to reach full rates soon.
"The cracker is producing ethylene as of this morning, and we will ramp up to full rates over the next days," Patel said during the company's third-quarter earnings call.
The 1.155 million mt/year steam cracker has been shut since late August, after Hurricane Harvey came ashore in Texas August 25 as a Category 4 hurricane.
"Our La Porte cracker had an unplanned shutdown due to [the storm] that damaged the compressor and deselection tower," Patel said.
The company also said that no major olefins maintenance is planned for the remainder of 2017.
