The average sales price per ton sold by CNX Coal Resources in the third quarter was between $44/st and $44.30/st, and sales volumes totaled between 1.5 million and 1.65 million st, according to preliminary financial results issued Monday.
Consol Energy, which owns the Pennsylvania-based coal producer but is working to spin it off as an independent company, said it released the results to provide potential lenders and debt investors more data in hopes of furthering the spinoff.
CNX Coal, which operates the Bailey, Harvey and Enlow Fork mines in southwestern Pennsylvania, said its average sales price per ton sold in Q3 2016 was $44.30/st and sales volumes totaled 1.51 million st.
The company's total coal production in Q3 of this year was 6.14 million st, according to US Mine Safety and Health Administration data, down 9.8% from the prior quarter and down 0.6% from the year-ago quarter.
