South Korea's ethanol imports rose 36% month on month to 31,109 mt in September, 17,838 mt of which was denatured ethanol, according to data released Thursday by the Korea Customs Service.
Denatured ethanol imports jumped 35% month on month to 17,838 mt in September, of which 84% came from the US. Imports from South Africa were at 1,021 mt, followed by Pakistan at 680 mt.
Separately, undenatured ethanol imports rose 39% month on month to 13,271 mt in September. Australia was the biggest supplier of undenatured ethanol, at 5,058 mt, followed by Pakistan at 3,095 mt and Cambodia at 2,563 mt.
On the export front, South Korea's total ethanol exports spiked 129% on the month to 5,233 mt in September. Japan was the major export destination of undenatured ethanol in the month, with 4,971 mt.
