The Northwest Europe styrene truck contract price for October has settled at Eur1,250/mt, down Eur110/mt on the month, and at parity to the barge contract which settled last Friday.
A buyer confirmed the contract price level.
The styrene barge contract price was expected to decrease as spot prices had tumbled through September.
On September 29, the styrene spot price was assessed at $1,245.50/mt FOB ARA, down from $1,513/mt on September 1.
Resolving supply issues in Europe and the arrival of imports pushed down prices through September.
In the first week of October, spot prices rose marginally as concerns emerged that imports will dry up in H2 October.
S&P Global Platts assessed the styrene spot price at $1,259/mt FOB ARA on Thursday, up $25/mt on the day.
