European ferrosilicon prices rose Thursday, with sources reporting material hard to secure.
"Nobody will offer to me today and I have a few customers looking," one European trader said. He added that producers and sellers seemed to be fully booked for October and November.
A second European trader agreed, reporting buying a small quantity at Eur1400/mt in Rotterdam. "Everyone is looking now and expecting prices to stay firm," he said.
Sources said 70% ferrosilicon was heard offered at Eur1400 CIF Europe although no deals were struck at this level.
S&P Global Platts assessed 75% ferrosilicon at Eur1,380-Eur1,450/mt from Eur1,350-Eur1,450/mt a week earlier, basis delivered Northwest European mill.
