ExxonMobil is dealing with post-Harvey flooding in part of its 362,300 b/d refinery in Beaumont, Texas, the company said.
"Due to the rising level of the Neches River, we are experiencing flooding in the lower part of the refinery," the company said in a statement late Saturday. "The chemical plant remains unaffected. We have deployed emergency response teams to provide additional environmental protections."
Beaumont has been shut since Harvey arrived on the Texas Gulf Coast. ExxonMobil on Friday said it was moving workers from unaffected refineries elsewhere in its system to Texas to help with restart operations at Beaumont and at the Baytown refining and chemical complex.
ExxonMobil's statement Saturday also said Baytown needs "minor repairs" after Harvey. A day earlier, the company said it had started initial steps to put Baytown -- the US' second-largest refinery -- back online.
"We are making good progress on restart activities," ExxonMobil said in the Saturday statement.
A return to normal operations at Baytown "will depend largely on the availability and condition of transportation infrastructure," the company said.
"We are working with the Port of Houston to expedite vessels through the Houston Ship Channel and we are coordinating with railroads to help facilitate necessary repairs," it said.
