Shanghai Secco Petrochemical's styrene monomer and acrylonitrile plants could take two to three weeks to restart after they were shut September 8 following a fire at a tank farm, a source close to the company said Friday.
The company shut all its production units after the fire, and force majeure was declared on the supply of styrene monomer and acrylonitrile.
The company is now conducting repairs and the outage at the 650,000 mt/year SM plant and 260,000 mt/year ACN plant is likely to last two to three weeks, the source said, adding that nothing had been confirmed yet.
Shanghai Secco officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
