The US Department of Commerce Friday said it expects to release final determinations for countervailing and antidumping duties on Chinese aluminum foil products on the same day in mid-December.
The decision to release both on the same day came at the request of the Aluminum Association's Trade Enforcement Working Group, the petitioner. Commerce originally planned to release a final decision for countervailing duties at the end of October.
Commerce said the decisions should come around December 18.
Commerce introduced preliminary countervailing duties on certain aluminum foil products in August. The countervailable subsidy rates are: 80.97% for Loften Aluminium (Hong Kong) Limited and Manakin Industries LLC; 16.56% for Jiangsu Zhongji Lamination Materials Co. Ltd.; 28.33% for Dingsheng Aluminum Industries (Hong Kong) Trading Co. Ltd.; and 22.45% for all other Chinese producers and exporters. US Customs and Border Protection must collect cash deposits, based on these margins, from all US companies that import aluminum foil from China due to the preliminary decision.
The investigation on preliminary antidumping duties is still ongoing, though a decision is expected on October 4.
